AABJ's "IN CONTACT", hosted by our own Angela Robinson, received NABJ's 2009 Salute to Excellence award for excellence in public affairs interview/discussion for the show "Backstage in Black."
Robinson interviewed Artistic Director of True Colors Theater Company Kenny Leon and Associate Artistic Director of the Alliance Theater Kent Gash together, as they prepared for the opening of August Wilson's plays "Gem of the Ocean" and "And Radio Golf." The interview took place on set at the Alliance Theater. This marked the first time the same cast was directed at same time for 2 different plays by Wilson. "Gem of the Ocean," was Wilson's first play, with "And Radio Golf," being his last play before he died. During the interview Leon and Gash talked about their journey in theater, as well as the state and future of black theater. Congratulations to "IN CONTACT."
